End of the year project

We will begin a group project on Monday May 5th.  Students will be able to choose from various companies to research and create a PowerPoint presentation.

Computer lab days:

May 5th

May 8th

May 12th

May 13th

Presentations will be on May 15th & 16th.  We will continue presentations on May 21st if necessary.

Days we are not in the computer lab students will be working in the room on other work and there will be a quiz on this work on May 20th.  The review sheet for this quiz will be distributed May 12th and we will review in class on May 19th.

Government and Bonus

We will be wrapping up our study of the 3 branches of state government next week and will take a test on them Thursday.  Students will receive a review sheet today in class.

Bonus opportunities:

#1 - Research and find the following items:

  • a current (2007 or 200 8) Georgia map of our legislative districts
  • our current representatives from our district on the state and national level (for the House of Representatives and Senate)
  • This bonus opportunity will be worth 10 points on the test

#2 - Bring in for the Georgia Festival on May 2nd the following items:

  • tin cans (cleaned soup cans, cleaned soda cans, etc.)
  • buttons
  • old candles
  • you may bring up to a total of 10 things for 10 bonus points on the last quiz on the Golden Age of Georgia

This coming Friday students will be taking a quiz on the last two sections of chapter 9 and all of chapter 10.  Here is the review sheet.

There will be a review session Thursday and Friday morning in my room beginning around 7:45.

Reminder the lab assignment from the 13th is due on Thursday.

     Books, magazines
     Pillow for the bus and sleeping bag for hotel (optional)

Moving on to Ch. 9

Today students will be taking their chapter 8 test.  Tomorrow we will move on to chapter 9 Reconstruction by discussing the outline/notes students should take tonight on chapter 9 section 1.
